To opt out of BeenVerified, go to beenverified.com/svc/optout/search/optouts, search your name and state, select your record, click "Proceed to Opt Out", enter an email and click the verification link BeenVerified sends you. It's free, needs no account, and BeenVerified says it usually takes effect within about 24 hours.
But BeenVerified's own FAQ says the online form removes only ONE record. And its sister sites PeopleLooker, NeighborWho and Ownerly each need their own opt-out.
Quick answer: One BeenVerified opt-out removes one People Search record. Email privacy@beenverified.com for additional records or records that come back. BeenVerified is run by The Lifetime Value Company, which lists 9 brands: PeopleLooker, NeighborWho, Ownerly and more each have their own opt-out page. Property records use a separate opt-out flow on the same page. Deletion requests under state privacy laws go to BeenVerified's online request form or privacy@beenverified.com.
Every fact below comes from BeenVerified's official support pages, The Lifetime Value Co.'s brands page, and the official privacy policies and opt-out pages for PeopleLooker, NeighborWho and Ownerly, accessed October 24, 2026. Marcus Bell, his address, phone number, email and relatives shown in the video are fictional.
Watch: BeenVerified opt out explained
If your name shows up on BeenVerified, PeopleLooker, NeighborWho or Ownerly, this video walks through the opt-out for each site, step by step, and the "one record" limit most guides skip.
How do I opt out of BeenVerified?
The BeenVerified opt-out is free and runs at beenverified.com/svc/optout/search/optouts. According to BeenVerified's support page (article 222411908, updated January 06, 2026), you search for your record, select it, and verify by email. It should never ask for payment.
Step 1: Go to BeenVerified's opt-out page
Go to beenverified.com/svc/optout/search/optouts. You may see a security check first. Third-party guide Recording Law, which verified its steps against the live page in 2026, notes that BeenVerified's opt-out page is gated by a Cloudflare human-verification check.
Step 2: Enter your first and last name, and pick your state
Enter your first and last name, and pick your state from the dropdown. Then search.
Step 3: Find your record
Check the age, the city, and the relatives. Then click "Proceed to Opt Out". According to third-party opt-out guide OneRep, that's the button name on the 2026 page.
Step 4: Enter an email address
Enter an email address, tick the check box, and click "Send Verification Email". BeenVerified says it only uses that email to verify your request. According to BeenVerified's support page, the email "will not" be sold.
Step 5: Open the email and click the verification link
BeenVerified sends you a verification email. Click the link. Then you'll get a second email confirming the record was opted out.
BeenVerified says "in most cases this will take 24 hours to take effect" after the confirmation email, when its servers refresh.
Step 6: Check it's gone
After about 24 hours, type your name back into the opt-out search at beenverified.com/svc/optout/search/optouts. If the record still shows, BeenVerified suggests you may need to clear your browser history and check again.
Is the BeenVerified opt-out free?
Yes. BeenVerified's support page says you never have to pay, and no membership or account is needed. If a page wants money or a card to remove you, close it.
How long does a BeenVerified opt-out take?
BeenVerified says "in most cases this will take 24 hours to take effect" after you confirm the opt-out request by clicking the email link, when its servers refresh.
What does the BeenVerified opt-out actually do?
It removes that record from BeenVerified's People Search results.
According to BeenVerified's official support page, once you opt out, "that record will no longer appear in our People Search Results."
But BeenVerified also says "it is possible that your name might appear in search results for the other search services available through BeenVerified even after you opt-out of People Search."
And BeenVerified states clearly: "Please note that we can only remove the records from our own site."
It's a removal from their search, on their site. It doesn't erase the data from the original public records, and it doesn't cover other people-search sites.
Why does my name still show up after opting out?
Here's the line most guides skip.
BeenVerified's support page says: "we only permit you to remove one record from our People Search Results through our online Do Not Sell My Info/Opt-Out process."
One online opt-out removes one record.
But BeenVerified also explains that a separate record can be created when new data has "different spellings, initials, combinations of information, and/or addresses."
So if you have more than one listing under different spellings (M. Bell vs Marcus J. Bell) or different addresses (your current address and your old address from 2020), each one can be a separate record.
To remove additional records, or a new record that appears after you opted out, BeenVerified says to email privacy@beenverified.com.
Can I remove more than one BeenVerified record?
Yes, but not through the online form.
BeenVerified's support page says: "If you find more than one record... contact us at privacy@beenverified.com."
So the online opt-out at beenverified.com/svc/optout/search/optouts works for one record. For the rest, email privacy@beenverified.com with the additional records you want removed.
How do I remove my property from BeenVerified?
Property records have their own opt-out.
On the same opt-out page at beenverified.com/svc/optout/search/optouts, there's a section titled "Looking To Opt-Out of Our Property Search?" according to a search-index copy of the page.
Choose the property search option, enter the full address, tick the owner names you want to opt out, and verify by email. Third-party guide USA Today / Kim Komando (2022) notes the steps: enter address, Continue, tick names, "Opt-out Owner", email verification.
How do I ask BeenVerified to delete my data?
Opt-out and deletion are different requests.
The opt-out removes your listing from People Search results. A deletion request under a state privacy law asks BeenVerified to erase your data from its systems.
BeenVerified's privacy policy (last updated September 9, 2026) says you can "submit a request to exercise your opt-out, access, or deletion rights by filling out our online request form, emailing us at privacy@beenverified.com, or contacting us via the phone number or postal address" in the policy.
The online request form is the tool BeenVerified points to for deletion requests under state privacy laws.
Which sites are owned by the same company as BeenVerified?
BeenVerified is run by The Lifetime Value Company (LTVCo).
According to The Lifetime Value Co.'s official brands page at ltvco.com/brands, the company lists these 9 brands:
- BeenVerified (people/background)
- PeopleLooker (people/background)
- NeighborWho (property)
- Ownerly (property)
- PeopleSmart (sales contacts)
- NumberGuru (phone lookup)
- ReversePhone (phone lookup)
- Bumper (vehicle)
- MoneyBot5000 (unclaimed funds)
Different front doors, one company. Some search people. Some search property records. Some look up phone numbers. But they're all under The Lifetime Value Co.
How do I opt out of PeopleLooker, NeighborWho and Ownerly?
Each site has its own opt-out page. Your BeenVerified opt-out doesn't cover them.
PeopleLooker opt-out
Go to peoplelooker.com/svc/optout/search/optouts. Search, select your record, and verify by email. Same flow as BeenVerified.
PeopleLooker's support page (article 114094159094, updated February 15, 2023) says: "At this time, we only provide an opt-out for our People Search service." It also says they "will instruct our data partners not to return the record you opted out in future People Search results."
For additional requests, email privacy@peoplelooker.com.
NeighborWho opt-out
NeighborWho is a property site. Go to neighborwho.com/svc/optout/search/optouts.
NeighborWho's privacy FAQ and support article 12856333829531 (updated August 13, 2026) point to the opt-out page. Same one-report-per-online-opt-out rule as BeenVerified.
For additional requests, email privacy@neighborwho.com.
Ownerly opt-out
Ownerly is another property site. Go to ownerly.com/svc/optout/search/optouts.
Ownerly's privacy FAQ says opt-out requests go to that page, and the page has the same one report per online opt-out rule.
Ownerly's page "Where Ownerly's Property Data Comes From" says: "You can submit an opt-out request and we'll suppress your information from our search results."
For additional requests, email privacy@ownerly.com.
NumberGuru and ReversePhone
If your phone number shows up on NumberGuru or ReversePhone, check those sites too. Every brand that lists you is another request.
One company, nine brands, one opt-out per site
So the math for Marcus, our fictional example from the video:
- BeenVerified: one opt-out removes one People Search record (email privacy@beenverified.com for more)
- PeopleLooker: its own opt-out (peoplelooker.com/svc/optout/search/optouts)
- NeighborWho: its own opt-out (neighborwho.com/svc/optout/search/optouts)
- Ownerly: its own opt-out (ownerly.com/svc/optout/search/optouts)
- NumberGuru and ReversePhone: if your phone number is listed, check those too
Any new record can bring you back. A move, a new phone number, an updated voter registration - all of those create new public records that people-search sites copy. So set a reminder to re-check every few months.
That's what UndoLeak does. UndoLeak erases your data from data brokers and keeps it off.
Check your data free to see where you're exposed right now. The first scan is free.
California DROP: one request to 600+ brokers
If you or your family live in California, you have the strongest tool in the country.
DROP (at privacy.ca.gov/drop) sends one free deletion request to more than 600 registered data brokers. Since August 1, 2026, brokers must check DROP at least every 45 days and keep deleting you.
Our California DROP guide walks through how to file and what each status means.
